It's My Birthday (Giveaway)

So technically it was yesterday but really, who has time to blog on their birthday on a Sunday.  I had things to do so this just has to be a day late.  What a difference a year makes, last year on my birthday I was depressed and angry all day.  We were living in my in-laws basement, my husband was unemployed and I turned 30 years old.  It made for a crappy day.

This year though I just wanted to be happy and celebrate and enjoy the day, which I did and I thought I'd enjoy the day with you too.  I've collected a few of my favourite cosmetic products and I'm going to mail them off to one of you lucky ladies.

Let's start with the eyeshadow.  I love these L'Oreal HIP shadows, I own 5 of them but this Wicked duo is my favourite.  HIP stands for High Intensity Pigments and they really mean it, the colour payoff is awesome, long lasting and not chalky at all.  The bronzy colour goes with just about everything and I hit pan on it far earlier than the purple, despite my equal love for it.

I just discovered this Essence brand of make-up and I'm super impressed.  Shoppers Drug Mart just started carrying it here in Canada and I can't believe how cheap it is.  I picked up this pot of gel eye liner in Midnight in Paris for $3.00. It goes on nice and dramatic, is almost a whipped consistency and doesn't budge.  My friend Michelle just reviewed the same product comparing it to a MAC product so if you're interested check it out here.

Last is the Revlon Colourburst Lipbutter in Peach Parfait.  I have three of these lip glosses, they look like a lipstick but feel like a gloss and are pretty long lasting.  Peach Parfait is my favourite colour that I own though, it's a colour you wear every day with everything.

Here are my own products in the same colours, opened up so you can see a little better though my eyeliner is a charcoal grey instead of the black pictured above.

And I did a swatch of them for you too.

So, who wants some free make-up?

Let's have a giveaway.  If you are interested in these products leave a comment telling me about your favourite birthday gift, or maybe your favourite make-up product or you can just tell me you want the product.  Really, any comment will do, just leave a comment.

I'll leave the giveaway open until Friday and then I'll package up the make-up with an edible treat and mail it off.

Good luck!

Face of the Day

I felt like yesterday I had an especially good hair and make-up day so I thought I'd share, if that bores you I can understand.

I used a dark shadow at the base of my eye and then a shimmery purple.  I followed it with really dark black liner and then some really crappy purple liner over that (it's not dramatic enough to be worn on it's own).  I applied a ton of mascara and called it good.

Thanks for indulging me.  Go ahead, make an extra effort on yourself today, it'll make you feel good.

How Much is Your Face Worth?

I've seen this post floating around lately and I think it's a fun idea.  I use a lot of drugstore products so my amount may not be as high as some but I've never added up how much everything I use in a day costs, so with trepidation, here it comes.

Covergirl trublend foundation - $13
I bought this foundation because they made it really easy to pick a colour, I'm almost out though and I'm thinking of trying a more expensive one next time around.

Undereye Concealer - ??
I have no idea what brand this is or how much it cost.  I've had it for as long as I can remember but I'm sure it was only a couple of bucks.

Annabelle Blush - $5?
Again, I've had this for so long I can't remember when I bought it.  I'm guessing it cost around $5 though.

Hard Candy So Baked Bronzer, Hula Hula - $7
This is a recent pickup and honestly I'm not sure I love it.  I use it but it's a little too brown for me, I wish there were some pick undertones.

ELF All Over Colour Stick, Lilac Petal - $1
This was a gift but according to the website it's only $1.  I don't use this everyday but it adds the pink that I was looking for in a bronzer.  You definitely have to use a light hand though because this colour and shimmer combo can be intense.

Mac Paint Pot, Painterly - $9.90
I use this every single day.  I wouldn't bother with shadow without my primer, worth the price, especially with the discount my friend gets me.

Wet n Wild, Vanity Palette - $4.50
I actually regret this purchase a little, the colours are great and super pigmented but almost all of them are duplicates to shadows I already own.  I guess that's why I was attracted to it.  I do use the highlighter shadow everyday though, it serves it's purpose very well.

MAC Eyeshadows x 3 - $33
I don't use MAC everyday but since it's the most expensive shadow I own I figured it would be a good for pricing.

Maybelline Lasting Drama, Gel Liner in Blackest Black - $11.25
Love this liner, it's intense and awesome.  I wish I had the same in brown but at nearly $12 bucks I've been holding off.

Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express Mascara, Glam Black - $6.99
Very happy with this mascara, gives tons of length and no flaking.

Total = $94.64

It's crazy how fast it all adds up, though the MAC shadows were most of the cost and I only own 5 of them.  It's a price worth remembering next time I go to buy something new.

So how much is your face worth?
